Nicky Gumbel is the pioneer of Alpha and Vicar of HTB in London, one of the largest Church of England churches in the UK. Nicky joined HTB as curate to Vicar Sandy Millar in 1986. In 2005 Nicky became Vicar of HTB in succession to Bishop Sandy Millar. In 1990 Nicky Gumbel took over the running of HTB’s Alpha Course from fellow curate Nicky Lee. Developed as a short course at HTB London, in 1990 Nicky Gumbel took over running Alpha and found that many people outside of the church wanted to explore the Christian faith. Nicky Gumbel has written a number of best-selling books including Questions of Life, The Jesus Lifestyle, Searching Issues and A Life Worth Living. He is the author of the free Bible reading app Bible in One Year.
Mahlatse Mashua is Regional Director for RZIM Africa and a member of the organization’s global speaking team. He studied biochemistry at the University of KwaZulu Natal before serving as a pastor and elder at Every Nation Church Durban where he was also involved with training the congregation in evangelism and discipleship. He later studied at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He is passionate about exploring the conversation about faith and culture through surveying how people answer the big questions of life. As an itinerant speaker, he enjoys giving talks on several themes including the interface between Christian apologetics, justice, conflict resolution, and race relations.
Nicky and Sila Lee are the family life pastors at Holy Trinity Brompton, London, United Kingdom. They have spoken to thousands on the subject of marriage and family life and have authored numerous books, including The Marriage Book and The Parenting book. They have also created numerous courses including The Marriage Course and The Pre-Marriage Course. Nicky and Sila Lee developed The Marriage Course for couples looking for practical support to strengthen their relationship. The course is designed to help couples build strong foundations, learn to communicate more effectively and resolve differences well.
Ben Woodman was a youth pastor in Canada for ten years before joining the Alpha Youth team. He is one of the hosts for the Alpha Youth Series and heads up Alpha Youth globally.
Jason Ballard has worked closely with Alpha for the past 8 years, working with a team to produce the Alpha Youth Series, released in 2013 and re-done and updated in 2017. He speaks regularly for Alpha, and is passionate about seeing Alpha used by students in their local churches, communities and schools to reach their friends.
Father James Mallon is the Episcopal Vicar for Parish Renewal and Leadership Support for the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. Although, now former pastor of Saint Benedict Parish in Halifax, he still is very much a part of this faith community. Father James is also the author of the best selling book Divine Renovation: From A Maintenance To A Missional Parish, an engaging guide for parishes seeking to cultivate vibrant and dynamic faith communities centred on missionary discipleship.
Patrick Kuchio is an ordained Minister with Christ Is The Answer Ministries(CITAM). Patrick has served with CITAM for 22 years in different capacities; as Youth Pastor at CITAM Valley Road and CITAM Woodley and Senior Pastor at CITAM Parklands and Woodley. He currently serves as the Head of Missions at CITAM, a role that has seen him travel within and without the Country establishing CITAM congregations. Patrick is a graduate of Pentecostal Bible College, Nyangori and Pan Africa Christian University where he studied Bible and Theology. He is finalizing a Masters in Leadership at PAC University. Patrick serves as Chairman of the Board for FTT Afriserve, a Missions mobilization agency that brings together different denominations across Kenya. Patrick is a born again Christian who is passionate about communicating Biblical truth, building and raising individuals and teams to realize their God given potential
Miles studied at Oxford University and then spent 10 years working for a consumer goods multi-national company.
He then returned to Oxford to study theology before being ordained an Anglican minister. He was the Associate Vicar at HTB, the London church where Alpha began.
He is now the Executive Director of Alpha Asia Pacific and Vicar of HTBB (Holy Trinity Bukit Bintang), an Anglican church in the centre of Kuala Lumpur that is home to the Alpha Asia Pacific Hub. He is married to Sarah and they have three children.
